A Full Wedding Day Timeline (From a Photographer’s Perspective)
The guide to the best timeline

Getting Ready
This is where it all begins—and honestly, it’s one of my favorite parts of the entire day. There’s something so special about those quiet (and sometimes not-so-quiet 😂) moments before everything officially starts.
Music is playing, your girls are laughing, hair and makeup is wrapping up… and it all starts to feel real.
During this time, I’m capturing:
Your dress, shoes, rings, and all those meaningful little details
Final touches of hair and makeup
Sweet moments with your bridesmaids and family
The in-between moments you didn’t even realize were happening
A little tip from me: have all your details set aside in one spot before I arrive—it makes everything smooth and stress-free
First Look (If You Choose One)
Okay… this moment gets me every time.
If you decide to do a first look, this is when you and your fiancé get to see each other before the ceremony—just the two of you, away from the crowd.
It’s emotional, intimate, and gives you a second to just be together before the day picks up.
This also helps your timeline flow so much smoother. We’re able to get:
Couple portraits
Bridal party photos
Some of those big “must-have” shots
…all done ahead of time so you can actually enjoy more of your day later on.
Bridal Party Photos
This is where the energy picks up a little—your people are hyping you up, fixing your dress, making you laugh… it’s the best.
We’ll capture:
Full bridal party photos
Individual groups (bridesmaids, groomsmen)
Fun, candid moments that feel like you
I always keep this part moving so it feels easy and natural—not stiff or overly posed.
Ceremony
This is it. The moment everything has been leading up to.
And I’ll be there quietly capturing it all—the big moments and the small ones you might miss in the moment.
The way your partner looks at you walking down the aisle.
The squeeze of your hands during your vows.
The tears, the smiles, the deep breaths.
This part of the day goes by so quickly… but your photos will let you relive it forever.
Family Photos
I know this isn’t always the most exciting part—but it’s such an important one.
These are the photos your parents and grandparents will treasure forever.
To keep things smooth and stress-free, I always recommend having a pre-made list of family groupings. That way, we can move through everything quickly and get you back to celebrating.
Golden Hour
If there’s one thing I will always sneak you away for… it’s this.
Golden hour is that soft, glowy light right before sunset—and it is pure magic.
This is your time to step away from the noise for a few minutes, breathe, and just be together.
No pressure. No timeline stress. Just the two of you.
And those photos? They’re usually some of the favorites.
WEDding timeline examples below
Every wedding day is a little different, but having a solid timeline makes such a difference in how your day feels. Below are a few examples to give you a visual of how your day can flow depending on your coverage and whether or not you choose to do a first look and of course times can be switched around to match your start time. These are just examples of order and duration!
8 Hours of Coverage - with a first look
This option gives you the most flexibility and the most relaxed pace throughout your day.
1:00 PM – I arrive (details + getting ready)
2:30 PM – First look + private vows
3:00 PM – Couple portraits
3:30 PM – Bridal party photos
4:15 PM – Hide away before ceremony
4:30 PM – Ceremony
5:00 PM – Family photos
5:45 PM – Reception begins
7:30 PM – Golden hour portraits
9:00 PM – I head out
Why this works so well:
We get almost everything done before the ceremony, which means you can fully enjoy cocktail hour and spend more time with your people 🤍
8 Hours of Coverage - without a first look
This keeps everything traditional, with that big aisle moment being the first time you see each other.
1:30 PM – I arrive (details + getting ready)
3:00 PM – Bridal party photos (separate)
4:30 PM – Ceremony
5:00 PM – Family photos
5:30 PM – Full bridal party photos
5:45PM – Couple portraits
6:00 PM – Reception begins
7:30 PM – Golden hour portraits
9:30 PM – I head out
Keep in mind:
Without a first look, more photos happen after the ceremony—so your timeline will feel a bit quicker during that time.
6 Hours of Coverage - with a first look
Perfect for a slightly shorter day while still keeping things smooth and stress-free.
2:00 PM – I arrive (details + getting ready)
3:00 PM – First look + couple portraits
3:30 PM – Bridal party photos
4:30 PM – Ceremony
5:00 PM – Family photos
6:00 PM – Reception begins
7:15 PM – Golden hour portraits
8:00 PM – I head out
Why this works:
A first look allows us to maximize your time and fit all the important moments into a shorter coverage window.
6 Hours of Coverage - without a first look
A more traditional timeline with a tighter flow after the ceremony.
2:30 PM – I arrive (details + getting ready)
3:45 PM – Bridal party photos (separate)
4:30 PM – Ceremony
5:00 PM – Family photos
5:30 PM – Bridal party photos (full group)
5:45 PM – Couple portraits
6:00 PM – Reception begins
8:30 PM – I head out
Keep in mind:
Things move quickly after the ceremony here, so staying on schedule is key—but we’ll keep it fun and stress-free the whole time 🤍
Final thoughts
At the end of the day, your wedding isn’t about a perfect timeline—it’s about how it feels.
My job is to guide you, support you, and make sure everything flows in a way that allows you to be fully present. No stress. No rushing. Just soaking in every moment as it happens.
I’ll be there fixing your veil, fluffing your dress, keeping things on track, and probably tearing up right alongside your guests.
Because this isn’t just another wedding day to me—it’s your wedding day. And it deserves to be documented in a way that feels effortless, joyful, and completely true to you.
And I promise… we’re going to make it so, so special 🤍
